New Palissystes | Stroll Garden | East Hampton, NY

New Palissystes gathers fifteen artists working in ceramics, each responding in distinct ways to the legacy of Palissy ware: a 16th-century tradition known for its elaborate, nature-inflected surfaces, based on the work of French Huguenot ceramist Bernard Palissy. Seen through a contemporary lens, the works reflect on ornament, distortion, and the tension between the organic and the constructed. The title of the exhibition borrows the term "Palissystes," which refers to generations of artists from the 16th-19th centuries who imitated the work of Palissy.
